How Long Will It Take to Install My Design?
Serving the Vancouver-Portland Metro Area

Most Portland Closet Company projects take about three to six weeks from your first design meeting to the final installation. Quality custom work isn’t something that happens overnight, and you’ll be glad we took the time to get every detail right.
Within one business day of reaching out to us, one of our senior designers will contact you. They’ll send a text, email, or give you a call to set up your first meeting. This consultation usually happens within five to seven days, depending on when you’re available.
For in-home consultations, which take between 30 and 60 minutes, your designer will measure your space, discuss your needs, and start bringing your vision to life. After that meeting, they’ll create your custom design and estimate. For smaller projects, this takes one to three business days. Larger, more complex projects might take five to seven business days.
Once you see the design, you might want some change, and that’s totally normal! The revision stage usually takes another one to three days, but this really depends on how quickly you can share your feedback. You can discuss changes at our showroom, over video chat, by phone, or through email, whatever works best for you.
After you approve the final design, installation typically happens within two to four weeks. During our busiest seasons, this might stretch to six weeks. Our installation team works hard to stay on schedule while making sure every piece is perfectly installed.
And if you need your project done sooner, just tell your designer. We understand that life happens: maybe you’re selling your home, expecting guests, or just can’t wait another day to organize that messy closet. We’ll work with you to meet your timeline.
Custom Closets
Custom closets are our most popular projects, and our designers are experts at maximizing every inch of space. Since closets are usually contained to one room, they often fall on the shorter end of our timeline, closer to three weeks total.
Your designer will measure carefully and create a solution that fits your exact needs, from shoe storage to hanging space to drawers for accessories.
Custom Cabinets
Custom cabinets throughout your home follow the same basic timeline of three weeks, though the complexity of your project might add a few days.
If we’re installing cabinets in multiple rooms, we might suggest breaking the project into phases. This helps manage the disruption to your daily life while ensuring each area gets the attention it deserves.
Murphy Beds
Because Murphy beds involve both cabinetry and a specialized bed mechanism, they require extra attention during the design phase. Your designer needs to consider wall structure, room layout, and how you’ll use the space when the bed is tucked away.
The good news is that once designed, installation is usually straightforward and can often be completed in a single day.
Garage Storage
Garage storage projects can vary widely in scope, which affects the timeline. A simple slatwall and shelving system might move through our process quickly, while a full garage transformation with cabinets, workbenches, and overhead storage could take the full six weeks.
The design phase is crucial here. We need to plan around your cars, consider what you’re storing, and make sure everything is easily accessible.
Pantries
Since pantries are typically smaller spaces, the design process moves fast, often just one to two days after your consultation. Installation is also relatively quick, sometimes taking just half a day. The key is making sure we understand how you shop and cook, so your new pantry works with your lifestyle.
Home Office
The timeline for custom home offices depends on whether you need simple shelving and desk space or a complete office with filing systems, built-in desks, and display areas.
These projects require careful planning to balance storage needs with a comfortable workspace. Your designer will ask about your work habits, equipment needs, and even your Zoom background preferences to create the perfect space.
Laundry Room
Most laundry room projects fall right in the middle of our timeline, about four to five weeks total. Laundry room renovations pack a lot of function into a small space. We need to work around plumbing, electrical outlets, and appliances, which adds complexity to the design phase.
However, because laundry rooms are contained spaces, installation often goes smoothly.
Craft Room
The design phase for craft rooms might take a bit longer as we figure out the perfect solution to your specific hobbies. The installation timeline remains standard, but the custom details make these rooms truly special.
We’ll ask lots of questions about your crafts, how often you use different supplies, and whether you need workspace for cutting, sewing, or other activities.
Media Room
Media room projects often involve coordination with your TV mounting or sound system installation, which we’ll help schedule appropriately.
Whether you’re storing gaming systems, DVDs, vinyl records, or streaming equipment, we’ll create a solution that looks great and functions perfectly. Cable management is a big consideration, and we plan for future technology updates.
